Meet Walt Ray

Founder & Chief Administrative Officer | Raydiance Psychiatry

Walt Ray is the founder and Chief Administrative Officer of Raydiance Psychiatry. A native of Erwin, Tennessee, Walt has a deep connection to the community and a genuine interest in helping create better access to thoughtful, compassionate mental healthcare close to home.

Walt earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology from East Tennessee State University and later received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the James H. Quillen College of Medicine. His professional background also includes extensive experience in pharmaceutical research and development, where he worked as a senior scientist and developed a strong appreciation for the science behind medications, treatment, and human health.

At Raydiance, Walt brings together his medical education, scientific background, and passion for helping others in his role overseeing the administrative and operational side of the practice. He is involved in practice development, strategic planning, operations, research, and identifying new ways Raydiance can better serve patients and families throughout the community.

Walt is especially passionate about helping Raydiance remain a place where people feel welcomed, respected, and cared for. His vision has helped shape a practice that values individualized care, innovation, accessibility, and the belief that mental healthcare should never feel impersonal.

Although Walt holds a medical degree, he does not provide clinical care or practice medicine at Raydiance. His role is focused on the leadership, administrative, and operational aspects of the practice.

For Walt, Raydiance is more than a business—it is an opportunity to invest in the community he has always called home and help build a mental health resource that can make a meaningful difference in the lives of local individuals and families.
Alicia

Meet Alicia Emery, DNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-C

Owner & Doctorally Prepared Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner | Raydiance, PLLC

Alicia Emery is a dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who is passionate about providing thoughtful, individualized mental health care to children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.

As the owner of Raydiance, Alicia created the practice around a simple belief: mental healthcare should feel personal. Patients deserve to be heard, respected, and treated as individuals—not reduced to a diagnosis or a list of symptoms.

With advanced training in both primary care and psychiatry, Alicia brings a whole-person perspective to mental health treatment. She understands that emotional well-being is often connected to physical health, genetics, medications, sleep, nutrition, environment, relationships, and life experiences. Her approach focuses on understanding the complete picture before developing a treatment plan.

A Personalized Approach to Mental Health

Alicia provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management across the lifespan for children, adults, and seniors, with particular interests in:
  • Depression and anxiety disorders
  • Mood disorders and bipolar disorder
  • Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders
  • ADHD
  • Autism spectrum disorder and autism evaluations
  • ODD, DMDD, and other behavioral and emotional concerns in children and adolescents
  • Trauma-related conditions
  • Complex psychiatric medication management
  • Pharmacogenomic testing and medication optimization

Alicia believes that effective psychiatric care should be collaborative. She takes time to listen to patients and families, explain diagnoses and treatment options in understandable terms, and involve them in decisions about their care.

For children and adolescents, she recognizes that successful treatment often extends beyond the examination room. When appropriate, she works with parents, schools, therapists, and other professionals to help children receive the support they need at home, at school, and in their communities.

Why Raydiance?

Raydiance was created to offer a different kind of mental healthcare experience—one that combines evidence-based medicine with compassion, accessibility, and genuine human connection.
Alicia's goal is not simply to treat symptoms. It is to help patients better understand themselves, identify what may be contributing to their struggles, and develop a treatment plan that helps them function and feel better in everyday life.
She believes people should leave an appointment feeling heard, informed, and hopeful about what comes next.
At Raydiance, mental healthcare is about more than managing a diagnosis. It is about helping each person discover the possibility of a healthier, brighter future.
